Des conseils pour une novice?

Message  Kaiyobi le Dim 26 Sep 2010 - 23:25

Bonjour,

(@ VanRah: There! I asked in French. xD Hopefully it wasn't all that bad.)

Yosh!!! XD, ha! ha! ha! I repeat that your French is very good XD, congratz for the effort and for taking the time to write this is our langage!!!

for the answer, I would say.... that it depends on your question! XD Could you be more clear about the different points that you would like to have? (have you any problem with the conception? With the place of the different pictures on the pages? With the style of your arts?)

ha! ha! like that, it's really difficult to asnwer you because there are lot of points which are in a doujin's conception! ^^"

I would say that you completely can make a doujin with a basic story (like a comic) and some pages with strips (4-koma), it isn't annoying! But be carreful with your pagination because the organization don't be the same. If I were you, I think I would make all the basic stories together and at the end (or at the beginning ) of the doujin, I would put the 4-Komas. Then, they could be like parody or alternative stories.

be carreful with the sens of lecture too! XD If you draw from right to left (as me XD), the cover of your doujin will be inversed XD than the printers musn't say themselves "oh, this author works from right to left, I must be carreful with the sens of his cover" etc.... Generally, the printing is making by internet (you send your work on the PDF's file<- international type of files for the printers, I recommand you to use this, and the printer just print your work. He don't verify if all is ok.....-_-°)

After, all my "advices" will depend on your questions XD, try to detail the point which are a problem for you!! XD

(and to finish:
point 1: Could I have some abstracts or pictures from your work? <- it's my curiosity which talks XD
point 2 : don't forget: on this forum, all the persons who post some messages must be present themselves, it's one of the 7 rules of this forum, and.... ha! ha! I think it's more polite XD, and I suppose it's like that on all the dorums! XD link for this (it's just a short presentation, you can do it in French or English, as you want^^)
http://alphadog.forumactif.com/presentation-des-membres-f2/

("présentation des membres" means "members'introduction "Xd

point 3 : I really hope, on my side, that I didn't make too much English mistakes! XD

Your french's good, don't worry about that :3

I support Van's opinion. But I think I'd put the 4-Koma strips at the end of you comic book for some reasons. I think it would be better, mainly because it wouldn't interfere with the main story. However it really depends if your strips are part of the story or if they're just...Well, "for the sake of doing something short & fun" xD

As a reader, I clearly prefer having a long (well, I'm not saying super long or anything x]) story and some strips at the end (especially if you have some serious parts) rather than having loads of 4-Koma and some longer stories. I think I'd get easily confused because at first, I wouldn't know if I should read the strips to understand the longer story or the other way and second, I wouldn't know if the strips are part of the story as well.
Although this only includes my personnal point of view. I wouldn't know for the others =) (Yeah, coz I'm a bit weird so...XD)
Nonetheless, I'd really like to see what you specialize in (show us awesome work 8D !), and you probably should specify your issues. Of course I don't think I'd be able to help (since I'm just an occasionnal drawer ^^), but I'm sure you'll get great advices from artists such as Van & Elyann =)

Well, I hope we'll get to know you and your project better (always eager to discover new super genius artist 8D)

Sorry for my poor English by the way, have fun :3 !

Thank you everyone! It's a relief to know that my French isn't as bad as I thought it was... =_=

Well, my doujin is basically a crack spin-off version (basically, random WTF version) of Dissidia: Final Fantasy. We're going to remake the story in Dissidia, with added characters and a different setting (medieval times).

Our main goal in the doujin is to:
1) Add in all the characters that we wanted to see in Dissidia but... didn't happen; and
2) deliver pairings and fandoms to all those people out there. xD

We've got a story down... ish... but we still plan on doing a 4Koma. Just because it's more suited for crack/comedy.

With your doujin... do you print it out as a book, and then sell it online and at cons? Or do you also have online scans? How did you introduce your new doujin to the world (get them to know that you are selling a doujin)?

How is the work split between the members of the doujin circle? Does one person outline, another person plan, and someone else colours?

Also, how do the doujin circle members meet. discuss, and find time to work together? Or is the work passed on from person to person?

Do you do your doujin digitally, or traditionally?

Yes, that's a lot of questions. =_=

And to answer your point #1: Unfortunately, my partner is extremely busy as of now, and we haven't started to get any solid drawing work done. We do, however, have documents with all our plans and stories in it. xD

Point #2: Alright, I'll go over to introduce myself. After I read how the other introductions are done. =_=

And all of you guys' English is very good! Better than my French.

Your group is very inspiring for me! Keep up the great work!

A.... Y... Yeah, there are lot of requests! XD Maybe I'll answer in two parts, 'kay? ^^

- The more important point: Dissidia. i love Dissidia. It's a really good idea! XD (hu.... Please, no lot of yaoi, I don't very like yaoi with characters I have the habit to see them in game or in an anime.... XD <- It was a Dissidia's fan request. XD)

- My comics and doujins are made like a book, they are sold for exhibitions, or by internet (for people cannot to be here for conventions XD)
I put only some scans (no the totality), because in that case, people'll take your work by the net ofter without post comm, whithout your permission, can copy your ideas and works, so, I think it isn't a good idea to put the totality of your works on the web.... Put only abstract, some pages to see how is your work. No more.

(Important: Think to copyright your works before make them public and diffuse them!!!!)

-all my works often are a mix between traditionnal and digital works (I often draw an color my works with paint, Copics pens or ink, and I clean them with digital work^^)

So, Here is the first part of my answers, XD
I'll put the rest as soon as I can Xd XD

See you!!!!!!! ^^

so, the suite of my previous post (i'm too lazy to do an edit XD)

hu.... For the meeting, hu.... ha! ha! it's a funny answer this one! >v< of course, when we meet ourselves, we chat about the different points, for example, the works we'll exhibit, we propose some ideas for badges or postcards etc.... In fact, meeting are the taken time to talk about all the different points which are included in the conception of the comics, and doujins.

In our circle, in fact, at the beginning, we joined our talents and we took our specialities to make a good think: for example, Yuyu has a talent for webmaster, so, she take care of all the web sides (banner, website, promotion, inscriptions for the exhibit, and she has the great role to clean the scans (it's really hard because I draw with lot of lot of lines, ha! ha! She has a hard work! XD), Shasha is my help of camp, she draws with me and helps me for the background of the pictures when I'm too busy, and ophy and Goku-chan are drawers too.
Each person of our circle has a talent in one ability, so, if you join all them, you have a good circle! XD (you must have a good drawer, but one drawer alone, it's really badXD)

(We) love Dissidia, too! But unfortunately... there is going to be yaoi in it. Not so much yaoi as shonen-ai, so basically, nothing really.... bad. >_< Maybe just to the point of kissing....? (I'm not quite sure what my partner has in mind... she's the really crazy one here.)

We will also have non-yaoi pairings in there, such as ZackxAerith (FF7), TerraxLocke (FF6) and others. So hopefully that will make it better....? O_O

Oh, okay. We were actually planning to start this out as a webcomic, and upload the pages as well as sell them at conventions. But I see your very good point. We'll have to think this over.

How do I copyright work before I actually make them? How do I copyright in the first place? O_O

So... how often do you guys meet? Once every month? Week? YEAR?!

I can't really call my doujin circle a... "circle". It's just two people. =_=

(Random question: How did you guys come up with the name ATRIS/And the Rest is Silence?)

Ha! ha! ok for Dissidia XD your version won't choking my sensibility XD (we are invaded by hard yoai.... My poor eyes..................... (blush))
It's really cool if you put some classic pairing like Zack and Aerith (gnyaaaaaaaaahhhhh!!! Zackkkkkkkk Xd Xd)

For the copyright, hm....... As you dont live in France, I don't know if in your contry you have the same systems... In France, you have few solutions: the first, the easier, you send the original pages of your work (Bd, draws etc...) to yourself and by a special postal service. This letter will must be not open, the file will be attested by date on postmark.

Another way is the special service of referencement and copyright in France. It's national, you send your original document to this service and they keep your document to deliver you a copyright number (for your intellectual property.)
But it's not free, it's around 50€ by document (book, draws' series etc....)

I think you should search on internet the different options you can have for this think, but some printers (national printers) can deliver you a copyright number too when they print your book. But it's not free too, the price of the copyright is additional to the price of printing.

For our meeting.... I would said...... that it's every day for me and Shasha because we work on the same draw's studio, so, it's easy to meet ourselves XD.
And for the other members, it's when we have a problem, or when we want to speak with friends XD (because she are as my members' family !! <- for the time we work together! XD)

hm... For our name.... In fact, me, Shasha and Yuyu are the circle And The rest Is Silence (ATRIS Studio). At the beginning, our stand for exhibitions or conventions was ATRIS Studio, because we were the only persons who exhibit on the stand. But from some times, another circle joined us, the circle Pierrot. So, if we conserv our circle's identities (ATRIS and Pierrot), when we exhibit, as we exhibit together now, our name's stand now is [Tegami Tenki]. It's a global name which group our two circles. like that, people know that under our banner, they'll find the circle ATRIS, and the circle Pierrot.
